About Maserati

The company was founded by the Maserati brothers: Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore and Ernesto. All five brothers had been involved with automobiles since the start of the 20th Century, generally working with other car manufacturers. But in 1926 Diatto, a manufacturer they worked with, suspended production of race cars. The brothers decided to take one of the designs meant for Diatto and created the Maserati Tipo 26. Alfieri drove this car at the 1926 Targa Florio, he finished first in the Grand Prix Class and 9th overall. Maserati continued to produce race cars until 1957 when they decided to focus on the manufacture of grand tourers. The company suffered in a big way during the oil crisis of the 1970s as the popularity of sports cars suffered dramatically. Maserati sales dipped dramatically and the company almost went into liquidation but it was saved by former racing driver Alejandro De Tomaso. The company changed direction by moving away from sports cars and focusing on the new Maserati Biturbo, which was incredibly popular. Since 1993 Maserati has been owned by Fiat, where it has remained an incredibly prestigious brand.

Launching Maserati Watches

Maserati watches are produced in conjunction with Morellato, an Italian company who have produced jewellery and wristwatches since the 1930s. The first line of Maserati watches was launched in 2012 and became an immediate success. The reason for the instant success of Maserati watches was how they encapsulate the style, feel and expertise of the Maserati brand. The famed Maserati trident logo appears on the dial and the crown. The classic shapes, grille, rims, counters and dashboards make up the design of the watch.
