The History of Raymond Weil Watches

Raymond Weil founded his company, which he named after himself, in 1976 with Simone Bédat – a colleague at Camy Watch Company. At the time the Swiss watch industry was in turmoil due to the quartz crisis. Weil decided to turn his vision of what Swiss watchmaking should be into reality by producing his own timepieces. His creations were praised by watch lovers and became very popular in Switzerland. Weil’s son-in-law Olivier Bernheim, joined the company in 1982, helping to expand the company’s reach and competitiveness. He also helped to build the brand identity, helping to market the Amadeus collection which helped to establish the brand’s link with music. In 1996 Bernheil became CEO of the company which had built up a reputation as one of the premier luxury Swiss watchmakers.
