In 2021, Seiko launched the Seiko Prospex ‘Tortoise’ Land Edition. This new model was inspired by Seiko’s long standing and popular diving watch that was fondly nicknamed the ‘Turtle’ by the brand’s fans. The watch was named for its iconic shell-like profile. This new watch from Seiko combines a professional look with a selection of high-quality specifications. Each of the Seiko Prospex ‘Tortoise’ Land Edition watches has been designed to meet the high standards required in extreme environments to ensure for a robust and long-lasting watch.
Each of the Seiko Prospex ‘Tortoise’ Land editions watches is powered by a calibre 4R35 movement. This movement can be powered using automatic and manual winding allowing it a power reserve of up to 41 hours. This impressive power reserve ensures that the watch is the perfect companion for the wearer on any kind of adventure.
The iconic case shape of Seiko’s ‘Turtle’ has been carried into the design of the ‘Tortoise’. Each model features a stainless steel case that measures 11.74mm in thickness, 42.4mm in diameter and 45.17mm in length. The models each come with straps in different colours and fabrics with a lug width of 20mm. The case of each of the watches in the collection features the crown in the 4 o’clock position. This ensures that it does not put pressure on the back of the wearer’s hand.
The hands and indices of each of the Seiko Prospex ‘Tortoise’ Land Edition watches are treated with Lumibrite to ensure that the dial is easily readable, even in the dark. The 60-minute scale bezel of the ‘Turtle’ has been updated with a rotating compass bezel, giving the watch an additional utility. Each of the dials has a date aperture placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock position on the dial. Sapphire glass protects each dial and each of the models is water resistant up to 200 metres (20 bar).
This model features a tan dial with tan hands and indices. The hands and indices are luminescent to ensure for optimal readability in all lights. A green to grey gradient compass bezel surrounds the dial. This model is finished with a green canvas strap for a military style look.
This Seiko Prospect ‘Tortoise’ Land Edition has a brown dial. Cream indices and hands complement the neutral shade of the dial and stand out so that they are clear and easy to read. This model features a rose gold plated case for a modern and bold look. The watch is finished with a dark brown calfskin leather strap that features brown stitching.
The watch has a black dial that is pleasantly contrasted by cream hands and baton indices. A black bezel surrounds the dial, and the watch is secured to the wrist with a black calfskin strap. The strap is detailed with contrast stitching and fastened with a pin buckle.
The final Seiko Prospex ‘Tortoise’ Land Edition model has a blue dial with cream baton indices and hands. A blue bezel surrounds the dial. This model is finished with a blue canvas strap that features cream contrast stitching and fastens with a pin buckle.
