What makes a brand luxury?

There are many different occasions which require a luxury watch, but with luxury comes the price tag. As with most accessories, watches range in price from cheaper models to luxury timepieces.

So what makes a brand luxury?

One of the main questions when it comes to the term luxury is what does it take for a brand to be considered luxury? Brands such as Dior, Channel and Gucci didn’t start off with their big names, each of these brands grew a fashion following due to their exclusivity as well as the story behind their brand. The same can be said for watch brands, many of our top luxury brands come with a heritage and story such as Hugo Boss Black, Movado and Michel Herbelin and have been watch making for decades.

Not only does a watch brand need to have a strong heritage, but also craftsmanship of the highest quality and a look which is unique to the brand. Movado are a brand which are iconic for their unique look which no other brand has recreated. They are simple and minimalist in design with a dot at the 12 o’clock mark, a look that is so recognisable they don’t even print the name of their brand on the dial, unlike most other watch makers.

For a brand to feel exclusive, it also needs to express creative freedom, not only with the look of their watch but the function. Junghans made their mark in the industry back in 1912, being the first watchmakers to create watches and clocks that can be seen in the dark.

If you are looking for a luxury model to add to your existing collection or start a new watch collection then we have a few recommendations for you that won’t break the bank. Without further ado here is a selection of timepiece which range in price but still have the luxury label.
