REC 901 Rwb Stella

REC 901 Rwb Stella

The creativity of design and the level of care for the source materials, as well as the final product, is what makes REC watches stand out from their competitors. For those unfamiliar with REC’s spectacular designs, the brand combines its founders’ love of vehicles with a passion for upcycling. REC takes parts of historic vehicles and incorporates them into their designs. This creates truly unique exclusive designs as each model is only available in a limited amount. One of the brand’s most recent collaborations is with Akira Nakai on the REC 901 Rwb Stella and the 901 Rwb Rotana.

The Inspiration For The Watch

Akira Nakai is a Japanese car tuner, particularly famous for his unusual, and somewhat controversial, approach to tunning Porsches. Taking the elegant traditional silhouette of a timeless classic like a Porsche, Nakai twists and transforms the car into the complete opposite of what it was intended to be in order to bring his vision to life. Bold, extreme and wild, the car’s he creates are masterpieces in their own right.

Porsche 911 Rwb Stella

The RWB Porsche 911: Stella Artois was the beginning of Akira Nakai’s Porsche obsession and the car that gave birth to his Porsche tunning company RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF. The car is fitted with an oversized rear wing and a custom wide lightweight carbon fibre bodywork, with the name of the car written in large gold letters on the side, to create this unforgettable beast.

Design and Functions

The REC 901 Rwb Stella is not only inspired by the work of Akira Nakai but also contains a piece from the car itself. A piece from the original hood is taken from the car, part of the tuner’s personal collection, and incorporated into the design. The piece of metal is punched into watch dials and has been coated with a clear lacquer to increase longevity. When designing the timepieces, REC has taken inspiration from the design of the car.

The car’s colour scheme is reflected in the black PVD coated stainless steel 44 mm case and the wide gold PVD coated body kit. As mentioned above the dial contains a piece of the car’s hood. Its textured subdial is inspired by the car’s footplates. The hour-marker scale is reminiscent of a speed dial. A sapphire crystal with 3 layers of anti-reflective coating encases the complicated dial. The stainless steel case back has been laser engraved to mimic the rims. Securing the watch is a black rubber strap, with embossings of the RWB logo.

Features on the watch include day, date and month display and a quick date set function. The watch is water-resistant up to 5 bars or 50 meters. The movement type of the watch is automatic with a Miyota calibre 9100 movement. It has an accuracy of -10 to +30 sec per day and a power reserve of up to 40 hours. Its frequency is 28,800 VPH with 26 jewels.

The watch is available in only 305 pieces. If you’re interested in purchasing this exclusive timepiece you can do so by following the link here.
