We first saw the Garmin Instinct at the back end of last year, where they became an instantly popular model. We then saw the release of three new Instinct models this year, making six in total! Now, we are seeing a new variation of this watch, in the form of the Garmin Instinct Tactical.

This new Instinct Tactical comes in two colours, either Black or Coyote Tan. This Tactical edition comes fitted with some extra features that may just make you decide to upgrade!

Built For Endurance

The Garmin Instinct Tactical is a timepiece to rely on. A rugged, reliable outdoor GPS watch that can be used in a multitude of situations, and adventures!

The Instinct has been produced to comply with the U.S. Military standard 810G for thermal, shock and water resistance (100m). The watch comes fitted with a fully vented silicone strap, with two independent holder loops, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit, making movement and activity that bit easier! This attaches to the strong and durable case, that has been reinforced with a special fibre-polymer.

Another special feature to this model is the chemically strengthened, scratch resistant display. This is a high contrast display, that allows for easy reading, even in the bright sunlight! Not only this, but it also comes equipped with a ‘night vision mode’ where the backlight settings are reduced to a level that does not interfere with the operation of night vision goggles. A function that makes this the perfect watch for any tactical personnel, all military operator!

Tactical Functionality

Adding to the already impressive night vision function, the Instinct Tactical also comes set with an impressive stealth mode too. A mode that will hide your GPS position, and disable wireless connectivity and communication, essentially giving you an invisible ‘footprint’. Again, perfect for specialist operators, that may find these functions extremely useful.

In the Instinct menu you will also be able to find access to projected way-points and a dual format GPS coordinate data page. These functions support the display of MGRS, degrees/minutes/seconds and more.

Global GPS

When stealth mode in inactive, your Instinct will provide you with access to a comprehensive GPS network, allowing you to follow your own path. With GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellite capability, this watch will track in the most extreme environments, even more than GPS alone would be able to.

An in-built 3-axis compass, and barometric altimeter, allow you to keep your bearings, and help to stay on course. The Instinct helps to remove the guesswork out of your journey, stopping you from ever getting lost. Using the Tracback feature, your return route will be saved already!

Training & Fitness

The Instincts tricks do not stop there, as it is still a fitness tracking HR watch too! Monitoring your heart rate, activity and stress levels throughout the day.

When training, Garmin technology will be able to track your activity with preset activity profiles for a whole range of sports, including running, cycling, swimming and more!

Overall, this is a fantastic model for anyone interested in fitness and GPS tracking, but with a bit more for those who are looking for a more advanced model! If you are more interested in the former, then it may be a good option to choose the standard Garmin Instinct, at a slightly lower price, and with more colour choices. However, for the additional cost, the features you do get with the Tactical do make for a very special watch!

We do not yet have a confirmed date for the arrival of the Instinct Tactical, however we will be sure to you keep you updated!
