junkers limited edition watch

Willi Birk established Pointec over 25 years ago in 1987 on the banks of the river Isar with the goal in mind to manufacture only the highest quality watches, it has grown and grown into a successful international family business that makes over 100,000 watches per annum.

“We want to only create watches that would stand out thanks to their unique design, excellent price/performance ratio and high product quality that is MADE IN GERMANY,” – Willi Birk

Willi Birk built Pointec into a successful independent company with three key brands; Junkers, Zeppelin and Maximilian.

The names of these two other companies came from two pioneers Graf Zeppelin and Professor Junkers who were involved in aviation from its very beginning in Germany. Pointec has successfully implemented design characteristics of aviation into their designs, drawing inspiration from the incredible engineering involved to help them to produce reliable and distinctive watches from their very first watch.

Junkers watch limited editionOne of the most popular collections of watches by Pointec was the Bauhaus which had strong ties to the Bauhaus movement. The Bauhaus movement was seen as a significant part of the transition from industrialisation to modernity in the history of art, culture and architecture. Bauhaus’ artists – or masters, as they called themselves, worked closely with engineers from Junkers to manufacture precise and professional models.

Junkers only use components from prestigious manufacturers in Switzerland such as ETA and Ronda as well as Miyota movements from Japan. The watches are assembled in keeping with the strict rules of German traditional watchmaking to make sure they are of the highest standard.

Each Junkers and Zeppelin watch is a quality product that is “Made in Germany”. Junkers hasn’t been a brand that we have really blogged about until today and you can expect to see many more posts about this amazing brand as well as Zeppelin. The last time we mentioned Junkers was back when we were visiting the Jewellery and Watch Show.

Th is watch is no exception to the incredibly high standards that Junkers hold themselves too. This is a modern men’s watch with Rhonda 505.24H quartz Swiss technology movement and it also has a freely adjustable second time zone. IF you like the look of it you have to be quick though as it is a limited run of only 1000 pieces worldwide. To make this model even more exclusive they have also made the watch only available in the Junkers online shop.

The watch case is made from silver 316L stainless steel and has an accompanying black genuine leather bracelet. The white dial has a number of great features including a date display alternate time and even a little aeroplane printed onto the dial below the Junkers logo. The dial and hands are protected by a solid mineral crystal glass and the movement is kept secure by a screw down crown on the right side of the watch at the 3 o’clock position.

The watch weighs 59g, has a case diameter of 41mm and a case height of 11mm. The watch is also waterproof to 10atm.
