Is The Apple Watch 3 Around the Corner

It seems like the Apple rumour mill won’t stop! Even though the Apple Watch 2 feels like it was only released yesterday, there are already rumours galore about the next release. The Apple Watch 3 will hit the shelves alongside three new iPhone devices very soon, if the latest rumours are to be believed.

Perhaps the Apple Watch 3 is on its way sooner than you might think!

Apple Watch 3 Latest Reports

The reports regarding the Apple Watch 3 come from China where Apple produce their devices. Economic Daily announced that Quanta Computer are expecting to see a boost in revenue thanks to sales of notebooks, servers and wearables. Quanta Computer were Apple’s primary manufacturer for the last 2 Apple Watches and it is expected that this will be the case once again for the latest device.

There is nothing yet confirmed on the specs or the actual launch date. But it is expected to be sometime around September/October, so at least there isn’t too long to wait. If the rumours are true though, there is a lot to look forward to in the new device.

Apple Watch 3 Rumoured Specs

One of the most desired features for the Apple Watch 3 is the arrival of cellular connectivity on the device. A survey of 1,500 existing Apple Watch customers found this is the one feature they most want to see which has not yet been added to the device. Previously the battery capacity and physical space in the device were not large enough for this to work. Thankfully this issue now seems to be resolved, according to an analyst from KGI Securities and it is expected to feature in the Apple Watch 3.

A front-facing camera is a possibility on the Apple Watch 3, which would allow for Facetime calls and also to capture selfies. While this may not be the best device to take photos on, it is an important feature in today’s market for social media and for gaming.

There are also rumours – sparked by an accessory worn by Tim Cook recently – that there will be big improvements to the activity tracking features. It’s possible that sleep tracking might be included, a non-invasive glucose monitor and also Radio Frequency Identification tracking.

Release Date

The Apple Watch 3 is expected to be released at around the same time as the next generation of iPhones. This date is not yet known, but previous iPhone releases have generally taken place in September or October. However, it is important to note that the first Apple Watch was announced the same time as the iPhone but released at a later date.

It is expected that the next release announcement will take place sometime in September and the release itself is expected to take place 2 weeks after. It is possible that the Apple Watch 3 may be released slightly after or slightly before the release of the iPhone 8 itself.

Conclusion

The Apple Watch has been simultaneously described as a complete success and an absolute failure by the press since its release. Sales figures have been estimated as being well below expectations, however the device is undoubtedly the top selling smartwatch. Despite the consistent claims that sales are below expectations, it is fair to say that the Apple Watch receives far more press than any other smart device. The Apple Watch 3 will more than likely, fairly or unfairly, be the biggest wearable release of 2017 and we will be watching to see whether it lives up to expectations. Both in terms of sales and the quality of the device itself.
