The Case and Dial
Rado is known for their use of premium-quality materials, and this model makes no exceptions. The striking design of this timepiece starts with its 43mm monobloc matt navy blue case. Crafted from Rado’s signature material, high-tech ceramic, it ensures the watch is both scratch-resistant and skin-friendly. With its white high-tech ceramic insert, the polished navy blue high-tech ceramic rotating bezel offers a bold contrast. Silver metallisation markers and the triangle at 12 o’clock helps to emphasise this further. The watch’s screw-down crown, at 3 o’clock, is made of matt navy blue high-tech ceramic. On display through the box-shaped sapphire crystal is a clear and spartan dial. With its navy blue minute track, it offers the wearer a glimpse of the movement that powers the watch. The dial also exhibits brushed rhodium-coloured applied hands and indices. Ensuring optimal readability, they both feature a white Super-LumiNova treatment. The Rado and Captain Cook logos, as well as the Rado anchor symbol, complete the striking design of the dial. A tinted sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on both sides, not only offers exceptional clarity but also durability. The Movement and Finishing Touches
Through the sapphire crystal case back, the wearer can observe and enjoy the innovative R808 movement which powers the timepiece. The movement itself comes with an anti-magnetic and highly reliable Nivachron hairspring that has been fully tested in five positions. As well as this, it provides up to 80 hours of power reserve. The automatic movement also contributes to the watch’s aesthetic allure. The dial side has nickel colour horizontal brush decoration, and this striking nickel colouring continues throughout other elements of the movement.
A matt navy blue rubber strap with a matte navy blue high-tech ceramic cover and brushed pushers complete the design of this limited edition model. Not only does the rubber strap showcase the Captain Cook’s sporty side, but it also provides great comfort on the wrist; thanks to its extendable stainless steel folding clasp.
