Citizen Launches New Tsuyosa Series

Just in time for the summer, five new striking models will join Citizen’s watch portfolio. The brand launched its new Tsuyosa NJ015 series today, which features a variety of bold dial colours. Ranging from sunny yellow to sophisticated black, the selection is inclusive of all tastes. Beyond its appearance, there is also much to like about the collection’s functionality. Translating to “strength” in English, the name “tsuyosa” is a great testament to the watch’s power for its price. Without further ado, let’s delve into the core specifications of these new Citizens.

Dial and Case

At first glance, one of the main appeals of the Tsuyosa series is its brilliant array of dial colours. These include yellow (NJ0150-56Z), green (NJ0150-56X), blue (NJ0150-56L), light blue (NJ0151-53M), and black (NJ0150-56E). Their sunny finish catches the light in a way that immediately draws the eye in so even the deepest colourway is bursting with character.

On all colour options, the dial features silver-tone baton indices as well as silver-tone hour, minute, and second hands. So that the watch is legible even in restricted light conditions, both the indices and hands have a luminescent inlay. Additionally, the date window that replaces the 3 o’clock hour marker is magnified by the sapphire crystal for ease of reading. The other side of the case is also protected by a sapphire crystal, as the exhibition case back gives the wearer a view into the watch’s movement. This ultra-modern and sleek design is then set into an 11.7mm thick stainless steel case. Measuring 40mm wide, the cases are the perfect fit for all different wrist types. Moreover, its robustness gives the model a water resistance of up to 50 metres.

Movement and Finishing Touches

Ticking beneath the dial on each Tsuyosa NJ015 watch is a Japanese-made Miyota 8120 calibre automatic movement. The 21 jewel movement boasts 40 hours of power reserve and beats at a frequency of 3hz, or 21,600 vibrations per hour. Simple and straight to the point, the movement is excellent considering the collection’s accessible price point.

Completing each of the classic sport-style timepieces is a stainless steel bracelet. This fastens with a secure fold-over clasp.

Which colour of the new Citizen Tsuyosa launches will you choose? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
