It seems in the last few months Hamilton has heavily leaned into releasing more and more pilot’s watches. To those who know Hamilton, however, this isn’t very surprising. The Swiss brand has shown a great affinity towards field and pilot watches for many years now. In fact, some of their most popular models, and lines, are pilot watches. To the delight of fans, Hamilton’s latest pilot watch, the Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer chronograph, has come just in time to satisfy the need for vintage-inspired pilot watches.

Hamilton's Latest Pilot Watch?

Earlier this month Hamilton released yet another addition to their Khaki collection. It appears that the brand is looking to take advantage of the rise in popularity of retro-inspired fashion. Only a few months ago the brand released its new military field-watch inspired models, the Khaki Field Titanium line. It only seems natural that they continued the expansion of the Khaki line with this latest pilot watch.

What is Hamilton's Latest Pilot Watch?

October of last year, Hamilton released another iteration of the Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer Chronograph watch. Compared to last year’s models, however, the 1970s-inspired 2022 edition stands out with a much more vintage appeal and an improved mechanical movement. A calibre H-51-Si mechanical movement is used to power the watch. Inside of the movement is featured a state-of-the-art anti-magnetic balance spring. The spring is made of special silicon in order to enhance the movement’s resistance to extreme conditions. Through the use of impressive modern engineering, Hamilton has managed to bring us a hand-wound movement of exceptional quality, only parallel to the movements of the old watchmaking masters. The movement has a power reserve of up to 60 hours and start/stop and reset chronograph functions.

The watch’s vintage charm doesn’t come only from the movement. Its rounded 40 mm case is made of stainless steel. The black dial is has a subtle texture to it, making the subdials stand out that much more. Contrasting it are beige luminescent hour-markers and silver-toned hands. As always the Hamilton logo is proudly displayed under the 12 o’clock marker. To guarantee durability, the watch dial is covered by a sapphire crystal. Securing the watch is a brown leather strap with subtle brown top-stitching and a steel buckle.
