The New Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity

The New Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity

Maurice Lacroix has released the newest addition to its Masterpieces collection. Just like the other models from the brand’s Masterpiece line the new Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity is visually distinctive and one of a kind in its design. The brand has taken the opportunity to showcase its engineering and designer prowess with almost every model in the line, making them all incredibly unique. The new timepiece, however, retains many of the traditional elements of the brand’s watches, such as the iconic M logo on the strap, in order to ensure their watches stand out from the rest. The collection caused excitement when it was first released several years ago and has become amongst the most eagerly watched lines of the brand by enthusiasts and collectors.

The New Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity

This newest Masterpiece watch carries a more bold and modern appearance. Though Maurice Lacroix has taken a risk with the watch design, they have decided to keep certain classical elements. In doing this, the brand has managed to achieve the delicate balance between innovative design and the easily recognisable Maurice Lacroix style.

Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity Skeleton Dial Watch MP6118-SS001-115-1

The new Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity watch subtly subverts the usual look of a skeleton dial watch, placing the hour and minute display off-centre to where usually would be the aperture into the watch mechanism. The brand has instead chosen to more fully focus on displaying the movement. This choice still allows for ease of readability while keeping an elegant streamlined look.

The watch measures 43 mm in diameter and 16 mm in thickness. Its case is made of stainless steel and features a brushed finish. The rhodium-plated movement beautifully contrasts the gold detailing on both the time-telling dial and on the mechanism. The dial itself is silver-coloured with a sunray finish. Gold dauphine hands add contrast and add a pop of colour to the colour scheme. Elongated Roman numeral hour-markers aid in the readability of the watch. A black small seconds subdial is featured under the main dial. As the movement itself takes centre stage in the design of the timepiece, it has been decorated through various polishes and finishes. For example, the main plain features concentric Vagues du Jura motifs.

Guaranteeing comfort to the wearer is a brown leather strap. Its refined look elevates the design of the watch. The strap is closed by a butterfly buckle made of stainless steel.

The watch has an automatic movement with calibre ML 230, with 18,000 vph and 35 jewels. The power reserve can last up to 50 hours. It’s also water-resistant up to 5 bars or 50 meters.
