The New MeisterSinger Bell Hora Watches

New MeisterSinger Bell Hora Watches

In April 2021, MeisterSinger launched the new MeisterSinger Bell Hora watches. The brand created this pair of watches in order to celebrate its 20th anniversary. An occasion of this importance required a particularly special watch to be designed in commemoration, so MeisterSinger chose to revive the practically forgotten ‘Sonnerie au passage’ complication. The new MeisterSinger Bell Hora watches have all the iconic features of the MeisterSinger brand with the new addition of an hourly chime. These new models have received the Red Dot award for their unique and incredibly precise design.

The ‘Sonnerie au passage’ Complication

The ‘Sonnerie au passage’ complication is not one that is often seen in modern wristwatches, but it is very reminiscent of traditional clock making. MeisterSinger’s philosophy is that people should experience time, allowing it to wash over them, rather than monitoring every minute that passes. The inclusion of this movement allows the wearer to do just this, as they will be notified of the passing hours without even needing to glance at their watch.

The complication that MeisterSinger have featured in the Bell Hora models chimes precisely on the hour every hour. Over the course of sixty minutes, the movement gathers enough energy for the device to strike the sound fork, emitting a clear and precise chime. The watch chimes only once for elegance and simplicity, unlike a church tower which counts the hours. The chime can be temporarily deactivated using the pusher that is positioned above the crown.

MeisterSinger are renowned for their iconic dial design. The brand’s philosophy of simply experiencing time inspires the single hand dial of each of MeisterSinger’s watches. The two new Bell Hora models are no exception. Each of the watches features a single, needle-shaped hand that will display the time in five-minute increments. The double-digit Arabic indices allow for a clear and easy to read dial,  meaning that the wearer can read the time with a mere glance.

Both of the new models are powered by an MS Bell movement. This movement is unique to MeisterSinger and is based on the Sellita SW 200 automatic movement. It gives the watches a power reserve of up to 38 hours, ensuring that they are precise and reliable. The movement is housed in a 43mm stainless steel case. The case of each watch features a 6-screw exhibition case back that allows the wearer to observe and enjoy the automatic movement within. Both watches in this launch are water-resistant up to 50 metres (5 bar).
