Maurice Lacroix’s Collaboration with Mahindra Racing

Maurice Lacroix's Collaboration with Mahindra Racing

Maurice Lacroix’s collaboration with Mahindra Racing began in late 2020 when the brand was appointed the Official Timekeeper of the team. In order to build on their relationship, Maurice Lacroix has brought us three new Aikon models. The design of the timepieces is sporty with a distinctly urban-influenced style. The colour palette of the watches is inspired by the team’s uniform colours. The special edition watches combine the passions of both Maurice Lacroix and Mahindra Racing. It is clear that accuracy, speed and a modern aesthetic were at the forefront when these timepieces were designed. Though all the special edition watches use the Maurice Lacroix Aikon as their base model, each timepiece stands out with a unique look.

AIKON Chronograph Quartz Special Edition Mahindra Racing

The first watch in the collaboration is the quartz special edition. Its case is made of durable titanium and measures 44 mm in diameter. Giving the timepiece its signature Aikon look is the mixed finish bezel. The case material ensures the watch is comfortable and lightweight to wear. The white square-patterned dial is contrasted by a black minute scale on the edge of the dial. The sunray-finish chronograph subdials in blue and red complement the overall design and add a touch of colour. Securing the watch is a mostly grey rubber strap, with two red stripes running down its centre. The strap features a titanium pin buckle. Apart from the chronograph, the timepiece also has a date display positioned at 6 o’clock and luminescent hands for ease of readability.

The automatic special edition model also has a traditional Aikon design. The bezel and case are made of stainless steel and measure 44 mm in diameter. Similarly to the quartz edition, this model has a white square-patterned dial. A dark blue minute scale is placed around the outside of the white dial. The luminescent hands of the timepiece are discreet and complement the overall design. The red central hand on the model is the chronograph seconds hand. Features on the timepiece include a chronograph and apertures for the day and the date. The model has a water resistance of up to 20 bars. The power reserve of its automatic movement can last up to 42 hours. Securing the watch is a perforated blue leather strap. Red topstitching is used as detailing to tie the design together.

The last timepiece from Maurice Lacroix’s collaboration with Mahindra Racing is the Aikon Chronograph Skeleton. This watch features a slightly different design to that of the other models from the collaboration. Though not a traditional Aikon the spirit of the collection shines through in this model. The stainless steel case measures 44 mm. This watch has a skeleton dial and an exhibition case back. The decorated automatic movement is clearly visible and adds a point of interest. Red minute markings are featured on the bezel and a grey minute scale is placed on the outside edge of the dial. Features on the model include a chronograph, minutes and hours. For ease of readability, the hands of the watch are luminescent. Securing the watch is a black leather strap with red top-stitching.
