Superautomatic 50th Anniversary Limited Edition

Alsta is most famous for the watch worn by Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper in the 1975 movie Jaws. The Nautoscaph dive watch shot the brand into international prominence, even though they did see success through the 60s as well. Alsta offered rugged, creative and robust timepieces for men and women who needed precision and engineering. Through the late 70s with the popularity of quartz watches increasing Alsta ceased productions. However, in 2014 the brand was resurrected and in 2017 released the Nauroscaph II as a homage to the originals Jaws watch. Now in 2021 Alsta have announced the release of the Superautomatic 50th Anniversary limited edition timepiece.

gilt black dial

The Superautomatic 50th Anniversary limited edition is inspired by the Nautoscaph from the Jaws movie. The case measures 38mm in diameter. It’s made of marine grade brushed stainless steel and features polished edges. The cushion shape of the case is not only reminiscent of historical watches, it keeps alive the spirit of the original design. This exclusive edition features a black bezel and a black dial with gilt detailing. The dial is gilt black and is contrasted by tapered luminescent indices. Tapered sword gilt luminescent hands complement the overall design of the watch. The luminescence is C3 Super-LumiNova. The case back of this exclusive watch is engraved. A screw-down crown protects the movement and increases the already impressive 300 meters or 30 bars water resistance. The watch is secured by a port-hole style stainless steel bracelet. Its style is named “Hooper” by Alsta, as it is the same bracelet the watch worn by the fictional oceanographer. A sapphire crystal encases the dial. The black ridged bezel features gold-coloured markings, carrying on the design from the dial.

Features on the watch include hours, minutes and seconds. A date aperture has been placed at the 3 o’clock position. The watch has an automatic movement Sellita SW200. Its power reserve lasts up to 38 hours. The movement has a frequency of 28,800 and 26 jewels.
