The New Engineer Hydrocarbon NEDU

Ball Watches has announced the new Engineer Hydrocarbon NEDU. One of Ball’s most durable and highly functional timepieces, the Engineer Hydrocarbon has been dubbed “the ultimate explorer’s watch”. It was specifically designed to withstand any conditions, no matter how adverse. The new model continues the brand’s long standing legacy of innovation. Supported by an appealing re-designed exterior, the new Engineer Hydrocarbon NEDU is a perfect addition to Ball’s diver’s watch portfolio.

The New Engineer Hydrocarbon NEDU

The watch model is named after the Navy Experimental Diving Unit. This part of the US Navy does research, assesses equipment and procedures and makes recommendations to the Navy about their safety and efficacy. As one of their many contributions the Experimental Diving Unit helped establish decompression timetables vital to divers. Through its many years of experience Ball understands the importance of high precision equipment and how even a second can make a world of difference. Designed with professional diver’s in mind, the Engineer Hydrocarbon NEDU combines engineering and style like never before.

Great attention has been placed on the design and materials of the watch as well as on its functions. The titanium case offers a durable lightweight base for the watch. It measures 42 mm in diameter. As the unidirectional bezel is of great importance in diving watches, it is made of chromed pure ceramic in blue. This makes it resistant to corrosion, scratches and ultraviolet rays. A large minutes scale ensures outstanding legibility. Contrasting the gradient blue sunray dial are thick indices and large sword-shaped hands. Red detailing on the subdials adds to the watch’s charm. 21 micro gas tubes ensure the luminescence of the hands and indices. Covering the bezel is an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The model is available with two different straps. One is a titanium and stainless steel bracelet for a more high-end classic look. The bracelet closes with BALL’s patented triple folding buckle. It features an extension system for more comfortable wear over a diving suit. The other is a black silicone strap to ensuring the watch fits securely and comfortably when diving.

The watch is water resistant to 600 metres or 60 bars. Incorporated into the crown is Ball’s patented automatic helium release valve. A patented crown protection has been fitted as well. It features a chronograph function capable of measuring up to 12 hours. The chronograph can be operated underwater. Functions on the watch include a day and date apertures at the 3 o’clock position. Adding to the watch’s fantastic functionalities are the up to 7,500Gs shock-resistance and the anti-magnetism to 4,800A/m.
