Junghans’ FORM A Titan

Junghans’ FORM A Titan

Junghans has announced a new addition to its portfolio, the FORM A Titan. Junghans is a German watchmaker which has been giving it’s Swiss opponents a run for their money since its founding in 1861. Junghans’ FORM A Titan is a line of watches which was inspired by the brand’s core values. Everything has its place in the design of this model and nothing is redundant. The watch carries an unmistakable German industrial tone, elements of which can also be found inspiring many other Junghans models. The FORM A Titan differs from other timepieces by the brand, however, due to its pared-back design and strict dedication to functionality.

The case on the watch is made of titanium and measures 40 mm in diameter. This is also where the model derives its name. The bezel is kept as minimal as possible in order to not distract from the dial. Its matt finishing adds an overall appealing contemporary tone. Titanium is a hypoallergenic material, making the watch safe and gentle on sensitive skin. It’s also an incredibly lightweight and durable metal guaranteeing long-lasting wear and comfort. To ensure the design is kept as simple and clean as possible the minute track is embossed into the dial in the form of squares. Increasing the durability on the model is a sapphire crystal. An exhibition case back, protected by a tinted mineral crystal, is featured on the model.

The line includes three models. The models come with either a brown or black strap made of buffalo leather. The material is highly durable and comfortable. It also highlights the luxurious appearance of the watch. The third model is for those who prefer to be more environmentally conscious. Its strap is back and made of recycled PET material. Both leather strap models have a matte anthracite dial, while the textile strap features a white dial. The models with black leather and black textile straps feature thick grey rectangular indices. For the brown leather strap watch, the indies have been replaced with Arabic numeral hour-markers.

All three models have an automatic movement with calibre J800.2. The movement has a power reserve of up to 38 hours. Features on the model include hours, minutes and seconds alongside a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position. The hands are filled with environmentally friendly luminescence. The watch is water-resistant up to 10 bars.

With the Junghans FORM A Titan the brand builds upon its already established utilitarian style. The model focuses on practicality over form. Its minimalistic silhouette and muted colours add to the overall aesthetic of modern simplicity.
