REC Watches presents the latest in their line of watches made from Ford Mustangs in the form of the P-51 RTR. In collaboration with World champion drifter, Vaughn Gittin Jr. With carbon parts taken directly from the insane drift monster driven by Gittin Jr. The P-51 RTR is capturing the DNA of this one of a kind RTR Mustang drift car in magnificent fashion.

The Car

With 900bhp this car is truly a technological masterpiece. The Monster Energy Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR was built from the ground up to be a drift missile to break records, and win championships. The Man

Vaughn Gittin Jr. is a world champion drifter, and has proved his skill, driving sideways all around the world. Known for an aggressive driving style, the Mustang RTR is the perfect companion, as is the new P-51 RTR he most likely has on his wrist! Winning his first Formula Drift title back in 2010, then to be awarded the Ace Driver of the Decade title in 2013 to recognize an impressive competition record – He took more tandem battle victories than any other driver in 10 years of Formula Drift History.

The Watch

The P-51 RTR is undoubtedly the most ambitious timepiece to come out of the REC brand. A raw carbon dial is accented perfectly by the Monster energy green and orange decal colours from the Mustang. The dial is framed by a forged carbon and aluminium bezel which are both created directly from the body panels of the car.

The beautifully crafted front grille with the LED accented vent lights of the Mustang RTR is expertly portrayed on the side of the case of the P-51 RTR. These are laser engraved in to the side, and coloured in that striking signature green. These iconic lights were first introduced at the 2015 SEMA show at the official presentation of Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s 2015 RTR Mustang, and now act as an integral piece of design for you to wear on your wrist. An instantly recognisable design feature.

Not only making the original car the first of its design, with so many fantastic new features, but adds a new depth to the side of the case of the watch. This design surrounds the screw down crown of the watch, laser engraved in.

On each side of the strap, REC have included the number 25 in roman numerals stitched in, in the same design as the decals.

This is a reference to the RTR race car number and is also found on the 900hp drift monster. REC Watches has gone the extra mile in order to captivate the DNA of Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s RTR Mustang.

The rotor decoration inside the back of the Limited Edition RTR is a tribute to the iconic Tech 7 high-spoke 3-piece race wheels used on the original car, and just shows the attention to detail REC have gone to to make this a wonderful watch. The wheels are the result of 10 years of collaboration with American High Performance Wheels manufacturer, HRE. The race-bred Tech 7 wheels were designed to enhance braking, acceleration and handling.

The Ford Mustang RTR was released back in 2015, and still is one of the best designed cars around, the super aggressive look, and the classy flowing lines bring all the best things about vehicular design into one amazing package. And when you give it 900bhp and send it flying around corners at high speeds, there’s not much that can top it, which is why this is one of our favourite watches, the accuracy and true to form nature of the design shows great detail to the original car, whilst still retaining a wearable piece for everyday life.
