The History Of Thomas Sabo

Recognised as a global brand driven by a love of fashion creating exquisite and highly accessible accessories, Thomas Sabo dates back to 1984 when it first began creating jewellery, watches and beauty products for both men and women. Now Thomas Sabo trades with 2800 partners worldwide and has opened 312 stores since it was founded by Thomas Sabo himself 33 years ago in Lauf an der Pegnitz, Germany.

Thomas Sabo pride themselves on their attention to detail and provides an array of different designs from classic and elegant tastes, to edgy and flamboyant. Expressive and iconic designs for men and women such as love knot skulls and infinity rings have gained significant status for the brand due to its high global demand.
Here is a timeline of the brands successes and how it started as a small company that sold sterling silver collections to its popular and global status.

1980’s

By the end of the 1980’s, the brand develops its success in Germany as one of the most innovative sterling silver collections and in the 1990’s the brand expands its design teams and the creations began to mature.

1990’s

It was in the 1990’s that Thomas Sabo began taking the first small steps to global success as it opened its first store in Frankfurt, and many more opened in the years that followed.

2000’s

This was a triumphant decade for the company as it was during this period that several lines and collections were created by the brand including the Charm Club jewellery collection, which was a great success in 2006, and also the Rebel at Heart product range was produced which was aimed at the male target group which was inspired by rock & roll in 2007.

The brand also introduced a new line of watches in 2009 which was to reflect the DNA of Thomas Sabo along with the rest of the collections.

2010 Onwards

Thomas Sabo created their own perfume in 2010 called the Charm Rose Eau de Parfum which was the first for the brand. It was at this point that Thomas Sabo began to employ A-list celebrities to be ambassadors for the company including Katy Perry, Poppy Delevingne and David Garrett. Later on in 2013 the company produces 18kt yellow and rose gold plating for the first time which is later seen in new collections such as the Karma Beads jewellery line and Love Bridge which was made up of bracelets and necklaces.
In 2016 490 employees move to a new head office in Lauf an der Pegnitz, Germany which promotes the growth of the company in the future.
