Casio Mr-G

On March 22, 2017 in Messe Basel, Switzerland Casio G-SHOCK announced a brand new MR-G as it did the year previous however this model is a special edition and it would be fair to say its pretty impressive. The model is MRGG2000HT-1A and as a timepiece it does an amazing job of demonstrating the highest level in Japanese craftsmanship and innovation. It is the first-ever Bluetooth® connected MR-G and has been handcrafted using a traditional Japanese technique called ‘hammer tone’. This technique and the colours used on the watches face, bezel and buttons was inspired by a Japanese cloud dragon.

This brand new addition to the MR-G collection is the latest collaboration with third generation master metal craftsman Bihou Asano. This master of crafting individually hammered each bezel and band using the Tsu-i-ki technique with a Kasumi finish. This is a traditional craft method that creates a very unique relief patterns through hammering. The small dashes of colour in the bezel and on the hands are a reflection of the colours featured on a traditional cloud dragon which are mostly Japan blue.

The MRGG2000HT-1A titanium case and band is treated with a special deep-hardening process that renders the titanium it five times harder than regular titanium, the diamond-like carbon coating of the band and a sapphire glass crystal offer outstanding scratch resistance. The watch also has tough solar technology which ensures a professional level of operation even when using power hungry functions.
