On the occasion of its 65th anniversary, Squale<\/a> has announced the all-new 2001 Heritage watch. The new limited edition, consisting of only 300 pieces, is a faithful reproduction of the model chosen by Jacques Cousteau as a gift for Michel Laval. Retaining the exact proportions and dimensions of the original, it feels like you’re wearing a piece of history on your wrist! The design of this watch may be vintage-inspired, however, its modern-day movement and features ensure it is a suitable choice for the present time. The All-New Squale 2001 Heritage Limited Edition Watch<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Dial and Case <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Retaining the same look as its original, this model exhibits a black dial with a white rehaut and a date aperture at 3 o’clock. The polished steel baton indices are applied and coated in Super-LumiNova C3, so legibility, even in low-light conditions, is high. The bold hour, minute and second hands also feature a luminescent coating, and for a pop of colour, the minute hand is orange. The word ‘Saphir’ appears on the dial, just like on historical models, indicating the presence of a sapphire crystal to protect the watch. In this new model’s case, the sapphire crystal is flat and anti-reflective. So even if you\u2019re at the depths of the ocean, clarity levels are excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measuring 40mm in diameter, a polished 316L stainless steel case frames the dial. On top of this sits a two-tone black and orange bidirectional rotating bezel. Made of sapphire crystal, for superior resistance to shocks and scratches, it features a ‘push to release system’. The original Squale 2001 watch being the first to incorporate this technology, it allows the bezel to be unlocked in both directions only with perpendicular pressure; ensuring maximum security even in case of accidental impacts. On this model, the screw-down crown features at 4 o’clock. While in an unusual position, it ensures great comfort against the wrist. Furthermore, the crown aids the watch’s impressive 600 metres of water resistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Movement and Finishing Touches <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

An Elabor\u00e9 graded Sellita SW 200-1 movement lies within the stainless steel case. Beating at a frequency of 28\u2019800 A\/H (4 HZ) and with 26 jewels, it provides the Squale 2001 Heritage with a 38-hour power reserve. Additionally, the automatic movement has an improved accuracy of +\/-7 seconds per day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A black rubber Tropic-style strap, with a pin buckle, completes the design of this watch. Paying tribute to the model worn by Michel Laval, it offers unparalleled comfort and reliability. As well as this, it is incredibly resistant to sweat and odours. Easy to fit under any wetsuit, thanks to its great flexibility, it is an ideal choice for deep-sea dives and on-land adventures alike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
