GRLPWR Gang Rock The I.N.O.X. V<\/a><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

We think Victorinox<\/a>\u00a0have made the perfect choice in letting\u00a0GrlPwr Gang<\/a>\u00a0rock their amazing new\u00a0I.N.O.X. V<\/a> watches? GrlPwr Gang are an all-female collective which is comprised of some stunningly beautiful ladies who are talented creative leaders and who embody the I.N.O.X. V ethos perfectly. They needed a watch that can keep up with their fast-pace active lives as they fly through their morning routine, power through their work day, tackle the gym and even go for a cocktail of two at a beautiful reception venue downtown. All with in inimitable style.<\/p>\n

Victorinox organised a photo shoot with these lovely ladies\u00a0and atthe photo shoot they managed to\u00a0chat with members Kirsti<\/a>, Mairead<\/a>, Grace and Clemmie about their mission to support women within\u00a0creative industries, female empowerment, the virtues of a happy wardrobe and the new\u00a0Victorinox INOX V collection.<\/p>\n

\"Gang<\/p>\n

How did GrlPwr Gang come about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kirsti:<\/em><\/strong> It came from one simple thought: we\u2019ve achieved a lot in our careers but what could we have done if we had more female role models? Wanting to make things better for the next generation was our lightbulb moment: Girls helping girls. Whether it\u2019s to break into the creative industries, generate new revenue streams by collaborating on projects together, or by being respectful and kind to one another. We\u2019ve worked hard to create something powerful and meaningful and we\u2019ve seen GRLPWR Gang go from strength to strength. So far so good!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why are mentors important?
\nGrace:<\/em><\/strong> GrlPwr Gang would have been the dream tool for me when I started my career. I didn\u2019t have a female role model, let alone a whole group of cohesive women who are really doing stuff. You can\u2019t be what you can\u2019t see.<\/p>\n

\u2013\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clemmie: <\/em><\/strong>Finding a mentor or ally is crucial at work. They help you learn that the best thing you can do is to be yourself. Don\u2019t try and compete. And most of all don\u2019t be afraid to ask a stupid question, it might lead to an answer that would otherwise have been missed.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Do you have an entrepreneurial streak?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mairead: <\/em><\/strong>I\u2019ve always been a very driven person and worked hard. It was a natural progression to move from being a DJ and promoter to music management, and now a record label and coffee shop. My dream job: buying records! Lion Coffee Records has become a real hub of creativity.<\/p>\n

Do you think modern women use their style to embrace who they are?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grace: <\/em><\/strong>Clothes are such interesting tools to communicate ideas about yourself, though I wonder if sometimes we subconsciously think we have to dress a certain way to fit in or comply. I try to encourage people and myself to wear things that make us feel happy, regardless of what it looks like in photos.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

How does becoming a mother change your working life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clemmie:<\/em><\/strong> It\u2019s changed everything. I\u2019m more efficient, more driven, more confident. Whenever I\u2019m feeling wobbly a voice in my head says: \u201cCome on! You grew two humans, you can totally do this!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"grlpwr<\/strong><\/p>\n

Does a creative career allow you to express yourself more freely?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grace:<\/em><\/strong> We are all becoming much more polymorphic and interdisciplinary, so I can be academic about fashion and a lawyer can like shopping. We are multifaceted creatures!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

How do you handle negative feedback?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grace: <\/em><\/strong>You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. I hope that by taking a hard line in what I really believe in; gender politics, female representation and production ethics in fashion, I can influence policies and behaviours in many different sectors. We all have to pool together to change the big things, and sometimes things have to get messy first.<\/p>\n
