It is the brand’s innovative Prospex 1968 Diver’s Modern Re-interpretations Save The Ocean Limited Edition watch that has received this incredible acknowledgement. This is an amazing achievement for Seiko. It is a true recognition of the watchmaking expertise that has been put into making this limited-edition timepiece. The Red Dot Design Award<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Red Dot Design Award was founded in 1955. It is internationally recognised as one of the most prestigious competitions in design and its recognition is coveted by many. The Awards are run by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany. The Seiko Prospex 1968 Re-interpretation watch won in the Product Design category. This category is assessed on nine criteria including degree of innovation, functionality, durability and symbolic and emotional content. This rigorous assessment process ensures that only the very best products are considered for the award. Over 7900 products were submitted, yet the 48-member jury chose this brilliant Seiko watch as its favourite entry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Seiko Prospex 1968 Diver’s Modern Re-interpretation Save The Ocean Limited Edition watch is limited to just 1300 pieces worldwide. This makes the timepiece incredibly desirable to collectors and fans of the brand. The new Red Dot Award winner status makes it even more so. The watch takes inspiration from the Seiko 1968 Diver’s 300-metre timepiece. This original model was chosen to be worn on the first-ever Japanese Mount Everest expedition. This was due to its world-standard hi-beat calibre. This movement has been updated and upgraded in the latest model, having been replaced with a high-end 8L35 mechanical calibre. This movement is made especially for divers’ watches, making it a reliable and durable companion. It is hand-assembled and adjusted by watchmakers at Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Morioka, Japan to ensure the highest levels of precision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This watch is unique as its case, bezel and crown are all made from Seiko’s proprietary bright white, highly corrosion resistant “Ever-Brilliant Steel”. This gives the watch an eye-catching look and a very durable finish. For even more durability, the crown is locked into a separate component that is built into the case to limit any damage. The timepiece has an attractive gradient dial with luminous detailing to ensure it can be seen in all light conditions. The watch is secured using a uniquely textured black silicone strap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
