\"RolfRolf Sach is widely renowned as a conceptual artist and designer, Rolf Sachs is recognised for his distinctive, multidisciplinary approach which is visible in all of his works, colaborations and exhibitions. His work takes inspiration from everyday objects that contain ‘traces of life.’<\/div>\n

He has used his multidisciplinary approach to create the \u20182.4ml\u2019 watch as his fourth<\/strong> collaboration with Fortis watches. The stunning timepiece takes its name from the volume of air contained between the glass surface of the watch and its dial and will be presented at baselworld 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rolf Sach has embraced the aesthetic of laboratories and all of the visual design present within them, he brings it all together perfect and combined in a way that only Rolf Sach can this beautiful \u00a0\u20182.4ml\u2019 watch was born. To create the dial markers \u2018ambering\u2019 (amber staining) was applied to the glass so as to replicate the visual language of \u2018graduation\u2019 marks which are often found on measuring instruments. This process required an accurate eye as it was carried out by hand and involved applying the artwork directly onto the glass surface, dipping it into the amber stain tank and then baking it in a high-temperature industrial oven.<\/p>\n

sachs explains\u00a0\u2018I always look to experiment and go beyond the expected. for this fortis artist\u00a0edition, I was inspired by the\u00a0visuals and techniques found in\u00a0chemistry laboratories and adapted the scientific process of \u2018ambering\u2019\u00a0to create a new way of crafting a time piece,\u00a0printing onto the glass surface instead of\u00a0the dial.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n
