Oris<\/a> have recently launched a new model in their Aquis collection that was created in collaboration with the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat<\/a>. The Wadden Sea is located in the south-eastern part of the North Sea and stretches from the Netherlands, past Germany, and along to Denmark. The aim of the organisation is to conserve the Wadden Sea as it is the world\u2019s largest tidal system and a registered UNESCO<\/a> world heritage site. The product of this collaboration is the Oris Das Watt Limited Edition watch. It is a limited-edition model, with only 2009 of them having been created. This watch is a desirable and collectable item that would make a wonderful addition to any watch collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nDial<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\"Oris<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The\nOris Das Watt Limited Edition Watch features a blue dial with white and silver\nbaton indices. These are complemented by the white and silver hour, minute and\nsecond hands. Both the indices and hands are treated with Superluminova to\nensure that the dial can easily be read in the dark. A date aperture is placed\nin the 6 o\u2019clock position for optimal timekeeping. Domed sapphire glass\nprotects the dial. It has been treated to be anti-reflective on the interior to\nensure that the dial can be read in bright light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\nwatch is made special by the fact that the dial displays the lunar cycle in the\nNorthern Hemisphere. It makes use of the Oris-developed pointer moon function that\nwas especially created for diver\u2019s watches. This function means that when the\nwhite pointer hand aligns with the correct date in the 29.5 day lunar cycle\nthat is printed on the dial, the corresponding tidal range will be displayed\nusing the white outline on the dial. The movement of this hand also exhibits\nthe waxing and waning of the moon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nMovement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In\norder to operate such a fascinating complication, this model requires a precise\nand reliable movement. The Oris Das Watt Limited Edition watch is powered by an\nOris 761 movement which is based on the SW 220-1 movement. This is an automatic\nmovement that uses 26 jewels and 28,800 A\/h to power the watch, providing it\nwith a power reserve of up to 38 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nmovement within this watch is capable of many functions. It has centre hands\nfor hours, minutes and seconds to ensure that the watch can operate basic time\ntelling functions. The movement also operates the moon phase complication using\nthe centre hand. The date window is powered by the instantaneous date function\nand date corrector to ensure for high levels of accuracy. This movement can\nalso operate the fine timing device and stop-second function. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nFinishing Touches<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This\nwatch has been designed to have a classic and timeless appearance. This is\naided by the use of a stainless steel case that frames the dial. This case\nmeasures 43.5mm in diameter and features a screw fastened, engraved limited\nedition case back. The case also features a tungsten bezel that is printed with\na minute scale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nwatch is water resistant up to an impressive 300 metres (30 bar), meaning that\nit can be worn for all water based activities. This allows the wearer to keep\nthe Oris Das Watt Limited Edition watch on their wrist fairly consistently without\nneeding to remove it. The water resistance rating is aided by the screw down\ncrowns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nstainless steel bracelet secures this watch on the wrist. This gives the watch a\ntraditional diver\u2019s watch appearance and ensures for comfortable wear. The\nbracelet fastens with a folding clasp with an extension so that it can be made\nto fit a range of wrist sizes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
