Seiko<\/a> released their first diving watch in 1965. Five years later, in the 70s, was released the Seiko Captain Willard model, nicknamed so after the homonymous character who wore it, played by Martin Sheen, in the hit movie Apocalypse now. The model became iconic as it was the first \u201cturtle\u201d in the brand\u2019s range. Watches from the Prospex range are functional and hard-wearing. They hold a certain classic unmatched appeal and are understandably popular amongst divers as well as Seiko fans. To celebrate the 55th anniversary of the release of the original Captain Willard in 1970, in 2020 Seiko\u2019s Limited Edition Captain Willard model was released. It has a modernized design, yet still retains the characteristic spirit of its 1970 predecessor. The 2020 re-interpretation of this 1970\u2019s classic is a chance for both fans of the movie as well as enthusiasts of the brand to possess a piece of history while still benefiting from latest horological advancements.\u00a0 The model is a limited edition, available in only 5500 pieces.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seiko\u2019s Limited Edition Captain Willard watch features the distinct tapered case shape of the turtle models. The case measures 42.7 mm in diameter and is made of super-hard coated stainless steel. A screw-down crown is placed at the 4 o\u2019clock position. The ridged blue unidirectional bezel adds to the watch\u2019s classic look. The white markings of the bezel are luminescent for ease of reading underwater and in the dark. Built with purpose almost no detail has been overlooked when designing this watch. Index luminescent watch hands and large luminescent indices contrast the blue sunray dial and enhance the readability. The second\u2019s hand on the model is gold. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective layer on the underside covers the dial. The watch comes with a bracelet, also made of stainless steel, and with an additional silicone strap. It secures with a three-fold clasp with secure lock, with a push-button release and an extender. The screw case back features \u201climited edition\u201d engraved into it alongside the serial number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The watch has a date aperture at the 3 o\u2019clock position. It features a stop-seconds hand function. Seiko\u2019s Limited Edition Captain Willard has an automatic movement type with calibre 6R35 and 24 jewels. The watch has an accuracy between +25 to -15 seconds per day and an increased power reserve of up to 70 hours. It is water-resistant up to 200 meters or 20 bars.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
