The iconic Nintendo Game Boy design is one which lends itself perfectly to be used on different types of official Nintendo merchandise. Whether you like to wear Game Boy t-shirts, Game Boy earrings or a Game Boy wristwatch \u2013 you’ll almost certainly find something to suit your tastes.<\/p>\n

Although, for those who love their official merchandise, an official Game Boy wristwatch has been impossible to come by. Thankfully, Nintendo have realised how great the demand for official Game Boy merchandise is and released this amazing wristwatch.<\/p>\n

The Game Boy was one of the first portable gaming systems to hit the market in the 1980’s and was immensely popular. And, despite being fairly basic compared to the 16-bit systems of the time, was still popular with gamers in the 1990’s. Blockbuster games were still being released in 1996, with the first set of Pokemon<\/a> games \u2013 Red and Blue – being released in February 1996. And, despite the 3D games being released on other systems, like the Sony Playstation<\/a>, it still held an impressive share of the market.<\/p>\n

It’s no surprise that the Game Boy is one retro game system which the majority of today’s gamers still recognise. While other historic systems like the Sega<\/a> Mega Drive, the Nintendo 64 and the Sony Playstation 2 would be unlikely to depicted on official merchandise \u2013 the Game Boy design is fondly remembered. The basic white version, as well as the colourful variants, has been turned into all sorts of geeky-cool fashion accessories.<\/p>\n

The official Game Boy wristwatch has been designed and released in the flagship New York Nintendo store. The miniaturised design looks exactly like the original Game Boy with all of the buttons and direction pad. This watch is based on the official Nintendo Game Boy alarm clock and works in practically the same way. Just like the original alarm clock, this watch can be used to wake you up in the morning \u2013 to the original Super Mario Land theme tune!<\/p>\n

The new Nintendo Game Boy wristwatch isn’t the only new piece of Nintendo merchandise you can put on your wrist. Nintendo’s smash hit Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/a> can be accessed from your wrist on the new Apple Watch Series 4<\/a>. Nintendo fans can also add a special Super Smash Brothers<\/a> watch face to their Apple Watch. This cool new Smash Brothers watch face cycles through all the different Smash Brothers characters each time you check the watch.<\/p>\n

The Nintendo Game Boy wristwatch itself can currently only be purchased from the Nintendo store in New York but that will change in the future. You can pre-order the watch online which is due to ship at the end of the month for a price of \u00a324.99. But by the time you read this there probably won’t be any left \u2013 here’s hoping that Nintendo will release a wide range of these watches before the end of the year. That way, we can all buy that gamer in our lives one as a Christmas present!<\/p>\n
