The Oris Aquis Upcycle

The Oris Aquis Upcycle

Oris has just announced the release of their newest timepiece, the Oris Aquis Upcycle. Oris not only creates high-end luxury watches but the brand is also involved in many ecological causes. Over the years Oris has supported ocean cleanup, reef restoration and many more charitable organizations. It’s no surprise that the brand has decided to create a timepiece to further help the planet.

What’s most special about the new Oris Upcycle models are the dials. In an effort to reduce plastic waste and ocean contamination, the brand has committed to using recycled PET plastic for the dials. Due to the nature of the process and the fact the materials are reused, every dial is as unique as they come. Made from different pieces, each Upcycle model’s dial features a one of a kind pattern, making each and every watch special.

The new Oris Aquis Upcycle comes in two sizes. In addition, the brand has announced the watches in either size will not be limited. Oris is hopeful that customers would choose the timepieces and support their cause. Due to their aesthetic appeal and high-quality manufacturing, Oris is anticipating the watches will become popular, which will, in turn, help the brand reduce plastic waste, through the recycling process.

The base watch of the models is the much-beloved Oris Aquis. A fan-favourite for sure, the Aquis’ design beautifully complements the idea behind the Upcycle watch. As mentioned earlier, the watches come in two sizes. They will be available with either a 41.5 mm or 36.5 mm case.

Design and Movement

The watches’ case and bracelet are made of stainless steel. The unidirectional bezel, with a grey ceramic insert, is not only practical but focuses the eye onto the watch’s unique dial. In addition luminescent hands and indices aid in the readability of the timepiece. In order to increase the durability of the model, the dial has been covered with a sapphire crystal.

Powering the watch is an automatic movement with a power reserve of up to 38 hours. Features of the watch include a date aperture, a date corrector, a fine timing device and a stop-second function. The watch is also water-resistant up to 30 bars or 300 meters.

Whether you’re a watch collector, an Oris aficionado or you care about our planet, the Oris Aquis Upcycle is a must-have timepiece. A watch which will not only make you look good but feel good as well.
