About Citizen
Citizen Watch Co. are a world famous producer of watches, jewellery, informational equipment and parts. Founded in Japan in 1918 as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, later taking on the current name on May 28 1930. Today Citizen is one of the world's largest producers of watches.
Eco-Drive Technology
Most of the Citizen watch range incorporate a technology known as Eco-Drive. Eco-Drive is a type of solar powered wrist watch technology. The watches are equipped with a special lithium ion battery that is continuously charged by any light source. The quality of the battery precludes it from being affected from the regular charge/discharge cycle. The watch dial is a solar panel collecting light. Depending on the model a fully charged cell will run with no further charging for 180 days to 4 years. If kept in the dark for too long, they will commence to run with exposure to light.
History
